POSITION: Communications Officer

STATUS: Full Time

SeptThe Cable Public Affairs Channel (CPAC), Canada’s only privately-owned, national, bilingual, not-for-profit public affairs television network is seeking an experienced communications officer to join our communications team. This fluently bilingual individual has strong knowledge of corporate communications and possesses the ability to communicate complex concepts in a simple and effective manner. The ideal candidate has exceptional writing and interpersonal skills, and will take responsibility for the growth of the CPAC brand and generating additional exposure for upcoming initiatives before a range of audiences.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Assist in the development of communication and promotion plans related to programming and other corporate initiatives;
  • Work closely with colleagues and external partners to ensure the seamless execution of planned efforts;
  • Help to ensure the consistent messaging and use of the corporate brand across various platforms;
  • Generate positive earned media for the channel and its programs;
  • Build strong relations with journalists and key outreach contacts;
  • Write and distribute programming advisories, news releases, backgrounders, op-eds and letters to the editor;
  • Manage proactive outreach with like-minded organizations and topical audiences;
  • Monitor and communicate CPAC’s presence in traditional and online media and assist with strategic response to media inquiries;
  • Contribute to CPAC’s promotional communications and viewer relations on leading social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn;
  • Contribute to CPAC’s digital strategy to build audience engagement and grow online and mobile footprints;
  • Coordinate the monthly viewer feedback e-newsletter, and research and prepare internal communications products as required;
  • Lead logistics planning, direct event planners and manage on site event coordination to support for CPAC’s PR and GR events;
  • Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED):

  • Post-Secondary education in a related discipline (communications, public relations or journalism), or the equivalent experience;
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in corporate communications, publicity, marketing and/or media relations;
  • Must be fluently bilingual (French and English);
  • Exceptional writing (French and English), interpersonal and computer skills;
  • Knowledge of corporate communications and new media trends, including corporate use of social media platforms;
  • Initiative and strong multitasking skills;
  • Knowledge of the television industry and/or politics is an asset;
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required;
  • Minimal travel may be required.

POSITION: Marketing Coordinator

STATUS: Full Time

The Cable Public Affairs Channel (CPAC), Canada’s only privately-owned, national, bilingual, not-for-profit public affairs television network is seeking an experienced marketing coordinator to join our communications team. This fluently bilingual individual has strong knowledge of marketing initiatives and can initiate and execute campaigns using various media platforms. The ideal candidate has exceptional writing and interpersonal skills, and can promote and contribute to the growth of the CPAC brand.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Plan and execute campaigns on a variety of media (social, print and digital) in support of programming and corporate initiatives;
  • Coordinate all marketing efforts by working closely with ad agency, graphic designer and colleagues in the development and execution stages;
  • Work closely with external suppliers, including advertising agency, printers, photographers and other contractors;
  • Evaluate campaign success based on established performance metrics and report on emerging trends and platforms;
  • Contribute to the development of newsletters and web graphics for various audiences;
  • Ensure consistent messaging and use of corporate brand;
  • Assist in tracking marketing expenses and invoices;
  • Organize and attend special events to raise brand awareness;
  • Assist in media relations;
  • Prepare social media communications for daily programming;
  • Contribute to the development of CPAC’s communications and marketing strategies;
  • Other duties as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED):

  • Post-Secondary education in Marketing or Communications;
  • Three to five years’ experience in marketing, corporate communications, publicity, marketing or media relations;
  • Must be fluently bilingual (French and English);
  • Recent and relevant experience in desktop publishing and using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator);
  • Knowledge of corporate communications and new media trends, including professional use of social media platforms;
  • Exceptional writing (French and English), interpersonal and computer skills;
  • Possess a strong eye for design, exceptional editorial judgement and decision making skills;
  • Initiative and strong multitasking skills;
  • Knowledge of the television industry and/or politics is an asset;
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required;
  • Minimal travel may be required.
