MPs start debate on the Senate bill to introduce sanctions against human-rights violators, the so-called “Magnitsky Law” (S-226).

Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland announced Wednesday that the government would support the legislation, introduced by Conservative Senator Raynell Andreychuk, to punish foreign states or individuals.

The House of Commons also considers Bill C-46 (drug-impaired driving) for the first time.
