It’s an opposition day in the House of Commons, with Conservatives putting forward a motion on Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan at 12pm ET / 9am PT:
That the House has lost confidence in the Minister of National Defence’s ability to carry out his responsibilities on behalf of the government since, on multiple occasions the Minister misrepresented his military service and provided misleading information to the House.
Sajjan has been under fire from the Conservatives and other opposition parties for comments on his role in the 2006 Operation Medusa in Afghanistan.
Bill C-338 is also debated for the first time. The private member’s bill seeks to increase the minimum sentences for trafficking in “Schedule 1” controlled substances, including fentanyl and other opioids, methamphetamine, and cocaine.
