Conservative MP Kelly Block grew up in Saskatoon, the second of five children. Kelly was closest to her father, Ernie, a mechanic and horseman and a man known for not being afraid to share an opinion. Kelly married her high school sweetheart, Milton Black and together they had four children. Kelly began her political career as a member of a district health board, then became a councillor and eventually becoming mayor of the town of Waldheim, just north of Saskatoon. In 2008, Kelly was elected for the first time as the MP for Saskatoon-Rosetown-Biggar. An avid gardener and proud dog owner, Kelly Block talks to Catherine Clark about her life Beyond Politics.
