Joint Committee on the Constitution – Indigenous Rights – Part 1

CPAC presents key debates and testimony from the 1980–81 Special Joint Committee on the Constitution of Canada. In this episode, we look at testimony concerning indigenous rights. Adam Dodek, a professor of law at the University of Ottawa, joins host Peter Van Dusen to provide historical analysis.

On December 2, 1980, the committee hears testimony from Marlene Pierre-Aggamaway and Donna Phillips, representing the Native Women’s Association of Canada, and from Harry Daniels, Louis Bruyère, Gene Rhéaume, and Vic Savino, representing the Native Council of Canada.
