Daughters of the Vote 2019 Delegates Take Their Seats in the House
Participants in the second edition of the Daughters of the Vote initiative take their seats in the House of Commons to hear addresses by former prime minister Kim Campbell, Green Party Leader Elizabeth May, Bloc Québécois MP and president Mario Beaulieu, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh, Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer, and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Many of the delegates also make statements. The prime minister addresses the caucus expulsions of Jody Wilson-Raybould and Jane Philpott during his speech, and takes questions from delegates. Each of the 338 young women represent a federal riding in Canada. The initiative is organized by Equal Voice Canada with the goal of inspiring young women to participate in politics. (April 3, 2019)
