The Debate Over Climate Change
When it comes to combating climate change, is Canada a leader or a laggard? CPAC's Bill Luxton asks the experts and reveals both the government’s and the opposition's stances. Canada's record on climate change has been very much in the international spotlight. The rapid expansion of Alberta's oil sands – the single largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in Canada – has garnered the country the title of “Fossil of the Year.” Conversely, the government has been pouring millions of dollars into carbon capture technologies and renewable energy development programs in support of wind and solar energy. Bill speaks with Robert Hornung (president, Canadian Wind Energy Association), Matthew Bramley (Pembina Institute), and Bruce Pardy (Queen’s University). Also on the program, Jim Prentice (Minister of the Environment), Michael Ignatieff (Liberal Party leader), and Stephen Harper (Prime Minister) are seen commenting on climate change.
