Interview with Jane Philpott and Jody Wilson-Raybould
Health Minister Jane Philpott and Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould join CPAC’s Martin Stringer to reflect on the passage of Bill C-14, the government’s assisted-dying legislation. The controversial bill became law on June 17, 2016, after the House of Commons agreed to a number of amendments proposed by the Senate. Philpott and Wilson-Raybould defend the government’s decision not to support a Senate amendment that would have broadened the eligibility criteria for physician-assisted death. Critics have predicted that the existing criteria, as laid out in the law, will be challenged in court as unconstitutional. (no interpretation)
