Bill C-24 Faces New Court Challenge
On September 26, 2016, in Ottawa, lawyer Lorne Waldman, alongside Josh Paterson (the executive director of the B.C. Civil Liberties Association) and Chantal Tie (an executive member of the Canadian Association of Refugee Lawyers),announces the filing of a new lawsuit concerning measures introduced in Bill C-24. The controversial legislation, which passed in June 2014, allows for the revocation of the Canadian citizenship of dual citizens convicted of terrorism-related offences. It is already the subject of a lawsuit concerning the changes it makes to residency requirements. (no interpretation)
