On July 20, 2017, in Ottawa, Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer responds to questions from reporters after announcing his party’s leadership team. Scheer, who won the Conservative leadership in May 2017, has named his former leadership rival Lisa Raitt (the MP for Milton, Ont.) as the party’s deputy leader. Alain Rayes (the MP for Richmond–Arthabaska, Que.) will serve as the party’s Quebec lieutenant. Mark Strahl (the MP for Chilliwack–Hope, B.C.) is the new chief opposition whip.
