Cabinet Shuffle – August 28, 2017
Governor General David Johnston oversees a swearing-in ceremony on August 28, 2017, at Rideau Hall, as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau shuffles the federal cabinet. Following the ceremony, the prime minister holds a news conference alongside the newly appointed ministers. The following individuals have been appointed to new roles: Carolyn Bennett (Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs), Jane Philpott (Minister of Indigenous Services), Kent Hehr (Minister of Sport and Persons with Disabilities), Carla Qualtrough (Minister of Public Services and Procurement), Ginette Petitpas Taylor (Minister of Health), Seamus O’Regan (Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence).
