NDP Calls for Better Regulation of Alcoholic Drinks
NDP Quebec Lieutenant Alexandre Boulerice, health critic Don Davies and families critic Brigitte Sansoucy speak to reporters in Ottawa about the party's motion requesting the House health committee to hold an emergency study on the regulation of beverages with high alcohol content, caffeine, and sugar. The MPs are joined by Alain Gervais, whose 14-year-old daughter Athena reportedly consumed a high-sugar, alcoholic energy drink called FCKD UP before she died. The Quebec beverage company has announced that it will stop production of the drink. Boulerice also responds to questions on the controversy over NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh's past attendance at Sikh nationalist events. (no interpretation)
