Government Unveils New Cybersecurity Strategy
Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale, Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan, and Innovation Parliamentary Secretary David Lametti speak with reporters in Ottawa about the federal government's cybersecurity strategy to better protect Canadians from online attacks. Initiatives include the creation of the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security. Scott Jones, who is currently responsible for the IT security branch at the Communications Security Establishment, will lead the new centre. Jones also speaks at the news conference about his new role. The RCMP will receive more resources in the form of a new national cybercrime coordination unit.
