Canada Urged to Defend Rights of Domestic Workers
Representatives from the Centre international de solidarité ouvrière (CISO), the Association québécoise des organismes de coopération internationale (AQOCI) and the Association pour la défense des droits du personnel domestique (ADDPD) hold a news conference on Parliament Hill. The groups are calling on Canada to ratify the International Labour Organization's convention on domestic workers. Convention 189 came into force on September 5, 2013, and extends basic labour rights for domestic workers around the world. Currently only 25 states have ratified the convention.
