Farmers and Food Exporters Highlight Trade Concerns Amid NAFTA Uncertainty
Brian Innes, president of the Canadian Agri-Food Trade Alliance (CAFTA), is joined by farmers, ranchers and agri-food exporters at an Ottawa news conference to discuss trade priorities for Canada's agriculture sector. They call on the federal government to ratify and implement the Comprehensive Progressive agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), support better access to world markets , launch trade talks with China, and remove remaining non-tariff barriers. Speaking with reporters are Kim Sytsma (a beef farmer from Ontario); Jeff Nielsen (president, Grain Growers of Canada); René Roy (a pork producer in Quebec and member of the Canadian Pork Council); and Markus Haerle (chair, Grain Farmers of Ontario).
