Ottawa Announces Retaliatory Tariff List, Aid Package for Affected Industries

Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland, Innovation Minister Navdeep Bains and Employment Minister Patty Hajdu hold a news conference at the Stelco plant in Hamilton, where they announce the final list of Canada’s retaliatory tariffs on American products. Canada’s countermeasures against steel and aluminum tariffs imposed by the U.S. are set to take effect July 1. The ministers also announce up to $2 billion in aid to protect the steel, aluminum and manufacturing industries. (June 29, 2018)
