Conservative MP Rachael Harder Tables Petition to Scrap Firearms Bill
Rachael Harder, the MP for Lethbridge, Alta., and Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer speak with reporters on Parliament Hill following the tabling of Harder's petition that calls for the Liberal government to scrap its firearms legislation. The e-petition, which was initiated by Southern Alberta teenager Ryan Slingerland, has collected over 86,000 digital signatures. Bill C-71 includes enhanced background checks and the requirement for commercial retailers to track firearm sales. It is scheduled to return to the House of Commons tomorrow for third-reading debate. Conservatives say the bill is an attempt to create a back-door long-gun registry. (September 19, 2018) (no interpretation)
