New Report Highlights Mercury Impacts on Grassy Narrows Children
On Parliament Hill, Grassy Narrows Chief Rudy Turtle releases a new expert report on the health and wellbeing of Grassy Narrows First Nation children who have been exposed to mercury. He is joined by Dr. Donna Mergler (lead author of the report), Ontario Regional Chief RoseAnne Archibald, Alex Neve (Amnesty International Canada Secretary General), Grassy Narrows community member and grandmother Judy Da Silva, Grassy Narrows youth representative Rodney Bruce, and NDP MP Charlie Angus. During the 1960s, the Dryden pulp and paper mill dumped 10 tonnes of mercury into the waterways that flow through the northern Ontario community. (December 5, 2018) no interpretation)
