NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh speaks with reporters in Burnaby, B.C., about the allegations of political interference in the criminal case involving SNC-Lavalin. Both Singh and Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer have called upon Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to waive solicitor-client privilege in order to allow former justice minister and attorney general Jody Wilson-Raybould to comment publicly about the matter. The Prime Minister's Office is facing allegations it asked Wilson-Raybould to help the Quebec construction company avoid criminal prosecution. Federal Ethics Commissioner Mario Dion has agreed to a request from the NDP to investigate the matter. The Conservatives and the NDP have also called for a parliamentary committee investigation. SNC-Lavalin faces fraud and corruption charges in relation to its dealings with Libyan public officials between 2001 and 2011. (February 11, 2019)
