Govt Announces National Strategy to Fight Human Trafficking
Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale holds a news conference in Regina after announcing a new national strategy to counter human trafficking. The government is making a new investment of $52 million over six years and $10 million annually ongoing after that period. The funding will go towards initiatives which include creating an advisory committee made up of victims and survivors of human trafficking, and enhancing border enforcement. The government will also work with industry to reduce the risk of forced labour in federal procurement supply chains. Public Services and Procurement Minister Carla Qualtrough speaks as well with reporters. (September 4, 2019)
