John Baldwin of Statistics Canada and Ambarish Chandra from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, testified as part of the committee’s study on the potential reasons for price discrepancies in respect of certain goods between Canada and the United States, given the value of the Canadian dollar and the effect of cross border shopping on the Canadian economy.
