Committee members continue their study of Canada’s energy sector, with a focus on the establishment of a strategic framework for sustainable development.

David Stewart-Patterson, the vice-president of public policy for the Conference Board of Canada, appears before the committee, discussing the challenges posed by different jurisdictions’ climate change targets and measures, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of various regulatory approaches to reducing carbon emissions.

Mr. Stewart-Patterson is questioned by a number of senators, including W. David Angus (the chair of the committee), Grant Mitchell (the deputy chair of the committee), Tommy Banks (Liberal), Robert W. Peterson (Liberal), Richard Neufeld (Conservative), and Janis G. Johnson (Conservative).
