The committee continued its study on the federal government’s responsibilities to First Nations, Inuit and Metis peoples and on other matters relating to the Aboriginal Peoples of Canada. In the first portion of the meeting, Richard Jock of the Assembly of First Nations, Clément Chartier of the Métis National Council and Elizabeth Ford of Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami discussed housing, land claims and health concerns. The second portion of the meeting focused on issues related to aboriginal youth. Kluane Adamek of the AFN National Youth Council, Thomasie Johnston of the National Inuit Youth Council, Mitchell Case of the Métis Nation of Ontario and Adrian Mrdeza of the Métis National Council discussed education, employment opportunities and government aid.
