Senators continued their review of Bill C-18, the government's controversial bill to end the Canadian Wheat Board's marketing monopoly.

National Farmers Union president Terry Boehm shared his opposition to the proposed legislation, while University of Saskatchewan professors Murray Fulton and Kenneth Rosaasen discussed the negative impact of the bill.

Brian Otto, president of the Western Canadian Barley Growers Association, and Kevin Bender, president of the Western Canadian Wheat Growers Association, expressed their support of the bill during the last hour of the meeting.

UPDATE: Bill C-18 received royal assent on December 15.
