In Committee from the Senate of Canada - Aboriginal Peoples – February 15, 2012 (Part 1 of 2)

Aboriginal Affairs Minister John Duncan appeared before the committee to discuss Bill S-6, an act which would affect the election process and terms of office for chiefs and councillors of certain First Nations. Brenda Kustra from Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada and Tom Vincent from the Department of Justice Canada also discussed the implications of the bill. The proposed legislation would affect 240 of the 617 First Nations across Canada.
