In Committee from the Senate of Canada - Foreign Affairs – March 8, 2012

The committee continued its study on the establishment of a charter of the Commonwealth as well as its discussion of the role of the Organisation Internationale de la francophonie.

Kamalesh Sharma, secretary general of the Commonwealth Secretariat, appeared before the committee via videoconference from London, England, to discuss Canada’s past and present contribution to the Commonwealth, as well as what could be expected from the proposed charter.

Organisation Internationale de la francophonie representatives Pierre de Cocatrix and Eric Pelletier testified via videoconference from Paris, France, on their organization’s charter and its relationship with member states.
