The committee heard testimony from a number of government officials as part of its study of the current state and future of Canada's energy sector (including alternative energy). Jon Allen from Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada spoke about the Keystone XL pipeline project, as well as Canada's oil sands. Mark Corey and Douglas Heath from Natural Resources Canada discussed the importance of low carbon fuel standards. During the second segment, Natural Resources Canada representatives Stephen Lucas, Jonathan Will, and Marc D'Iorio, along with Dan McDougall from Environment Canada, spoke about the relationship between Canada and the United States as it pertains to energy.
