The committee focused its discussion on understanding the innovation in agriculture sector and agri-food from the point of view of the agricultural input sector.

Jean Szkotnicki of the Canadian Animal Health Institute provided recommendations that would help in advancing animal health management. Rick McRonald of the Canadian Livestock Genetics Association discussed obstacles that need to be overcome to improve livestock genetics. Patty Townsend from the Canadian Seed Trade Association spoke about the projected increase in human population and the need to produce enough crops to accommodate the growth.
