In Committee from the Senate of Canada
Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources – April 3, 2012
Senators held a roundtable discussion with a group of four high school students on the development of a Canadian energy strategy. It is believed that this was the first time that high school students have presented before a Senate committee on a broad policy issue. Travis Dueck, Chelsea Baker, Brandon Eardley, and Colton Praill presented the recommendations of a youth project on sustainable energy. This student initiative was organized by the Edmonton-based Centre for Global Education . Terrance Godwaldt, a teacher and the centre's coordinator, provided some background information. The students who appeared at the committee were representing the viewpoints of over 400 students and six high schools from across the country.
