Senators continued their study of research and innovation efforts in the agricultural sector.

Beth McMahon of Canadian Organic Growers spoke to the committee about the organic agriculture industry, and discussed the growing trend in the consumption of organic foods. Andrew Hammermeister from the Organic Agriculture Centre of Canada addressed the benefits of organic agriculture. He also discussed foreign countries that have pro-organic agricultural policies, and encouraged the adoption of such a policy in Canada.
