In Committee from the Senate of Canada
Foreign Affairs – April 26, 2012
Senior officials from Passport Canada appeared before the committee to discuss the agency's fee-for-service proposal. The plan would allow the agency to raise its fees to facilitate the introduction of the electronic ePassport. President and CEO Christine Desloges explained how the ePassport will function and what security benefits it will provide. Her colleagues Lisa Pezzack and Michel Brunette also responded to questions about how the change will affect the passport issuing process. The organization plans to launch its ePassport project in the spring of 2013.
