Senators went through various parts of the budget implementation bill with senior officials from the Department of Finance, Human Resources and Skills Development Canada and Parks Canada.

Elements of Bill C-38 that were discussed included provisions related to the protection of personal information obtained for administering or enforcing the Canada Pension Plan and the Old Age Security Act, measures to phase out Social Insurance Number cards, and the streamlining of planning and reporting initiatives for Parks Canada.

UPDATE: Bill C-38 received royal assent on June 29.
