Senators heard about the impact of investment at the federal level on industry players from an academic perspective. Douglas Hedley, executive director of the Canadian Faculties of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine; Peter W.B. Phillips, a professor at the University of Saskatchewan; and Michael Trevan, dean of the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences at the University of Manitoba, discussed the need to increase agricultural production in Canada and around the world, and recommended ways to make Canadian agri-food policy more effective and efficient.
