Senior officials from the Department of Finance, Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada, the Canada Food Inspection Agency, and the Canada School of Public Service briefed the committee on certain measures contained in part 4 of the budget implementation bill.

Elements of Bill C-38 that were discussed in this meeting included the proposed closure of the Rights and Democracy Agency, changes to the Health of Animals Act concerning disease outbreak, and the reorganization of the Canadian International Trade Tribunal.

UPDATE: Bill C-38 received royal assent on June 29.
