Senior government officials from the Departments of Public Safety, Transport, Human Resources and Skills Development, and the Environment briefed the committee on certain measures contained in part 4 of the budget implementation bill.

Elements of Bill C-38 that were discussed included amendments to the Corrections and Conditional Release Act, the repeal of the Kyoto Protocol Implementation Act, and changes to the Employment Equity Act.

UPDATE: Bill C-38 received royal assent on June 29.
