Finn Poschmann, the C.D. Howe Institute's vice-president of research, briefed the committee on various measures contained in part 4 of the budget implementation bill.

In particular, Poschmann focused on the proposed new oversight rules for the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation. He also discussed changes to the Trust and Loan Companies Act, the Bank Act, and the Investment Canada Act.

UPDATE: Bill C-38 received royal assent on June 29.
