Anti-terrorism – June 18, 2012
Senior officials from the RCMP and Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada discussed Bill S-9, the government’s nuclear terrorism legislation. RCMP Assistant Commissioner Gilles Michaud and Sabine Nolke, DFAIT’s director general of Non-Proliferation and Security Threat Reduction, elaborated on how the bill will impact existing Canadian nuclear policy. In the second part of the meeting, senators undertook clause-by-clause consideration of the bill. Department of Justice counsel Catherine Kane and Greg Koster were on hand to answer questions on technical aspects of the legislation.
