Minister of State for Finance Ted Menzies discussed Bill C- 25, which would create pooled registered pension plans. The option is geared towards the self-employed and small business employees who do not have a workplace pension. Department of Finance officials Jeremy Rudin, Leah Anderson, Lynn Hemmings and Yaser Syed were also on hand to answer questions on technical aspects of the legislation.

Frank Swedlove from the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association Inc., Marion Wrobel from the Canadian Bankers Association, and Susanna Cluff-Clyburne from the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, testified during the second part of the meeting.

UPDATE: Bill C- 25 received royal assent on June 28.
