Senators continued their review of certain provisions contained in the budget implementation bill.

Philipe-A. Sarrazin from the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions Canada and Frank Zinatelli with the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association discuss the section of Bill C-45 that allows certain public sector investment pools to directly invest in financial institutions.

William S. Rice of the Canadian Securities Administrators, Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation representatives Greg Cowper and Chantal Richer, and Robert Turnbull with the Bank of Canada comment on measures including those related to eligible financial contracts of a bridge institution.

UPDATE: Bill C-45 received royal assent on December 14.
