The committee hears from a trio of law professors and a former Supreme Court justice on the proposed amendments to the Supreme Court Act that are contained in the latest budget implementation bill (C-4). The changes were introduced to deal with the legal challenge that is blocking the appointment of Justice Marc Nadon to the high court as a judge from Quebec. Professors Paul Daly, Benoît Pelletier, Carissima Mathen and former Supreme Court Justice Michel Bastarache appear as individuals. (November 21, 2013) UPDATE: Bill C-4 received royal assent on December 12.
