Justice Minister Peter MacKay defends the proposed amendments to the Supreme Court Act that are contained in the latest budget implementation bill (C-4).

The changes address the controversy over Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s appointment of Justice Marc Nadon to the Supreme Court by clarifying certain eligibility criteria to sit on the high court. (November 27, 2013)

UPDATE: Bill C-4 received royal assent on December 12.
