In Committee from the Senate of Canada
Banking, Trade and Commerce - January 30, 2014
The committee continues its study on the Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP), a special bank account which allows for long-term financial savings for individuals with physical and/or mental disabilities. Carol Bezaire and Sophie Dagneau, representatives from Mackenzie Investments, discuss the problems surrounding the legalities of individuals deemed mentally incompetent to enter into a RDSP contract and the issue of qualified family members’ attempts to represent their beneficiary. Senators also hear from Trevor Marsh of Assante Capital Management Ltd., who speaks about the lack of awareness of the RDSP program from financial advisors and eligible individuals. (January 30, 2014)
