Human Rights - March 3, 2014
The committee examines Canada's international and national human rights obligations, focusing on visible minority youth and the criminal justice system. Senators first hear from Bobby Matheson of Public Safety Canada and representatives from the department of Justice Canada Donald Piragoff, Elizabeth Hendy and Hana Hruska. In the second part the senators discuss the issue with Lisa Pomerant and Emma Rhodes, lawyers from the Canadian Council of Criminal Defence and professors Nicholas Bala and Siu Ming Kwok who appear via videoconference.
