In Committee from the Senate of Canada - National Finance - May 6, 2014 - Part 1


The Senators study Part 6 of Bill C-31, a budget implantation act. Appearing at the committee are representatives from the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat, the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, Finance Canada, and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
Some of the measures of the bill under discussion include the prohibition of pension contributions from suspended Parliamentarians, the dissolution of the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Board, the removal of foreign ownership limits for Nordion Inc. shares, the exemption of user fees associated with the Safe Food for Canadians Act (SFCA), changes to the Public Service Relations Act, and more. (May 6, 2014) UPDATE: Bill C-31 received royal assent on June 19.
