In Committee from the Senate of Canada - Aboriginal Peoples - April 30, 2014

The Senators continue their pre-study of Bill C-33, an act to enable First Nations control of elementary and secondary education. Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada’s Françoise Ducros and Chris Rainer brief the committee on the bill and explains various provisions concerning education standards, governance options, funding, community participation, and more. Also testifying at the committee is the Department of Justice Canada’s Martin Reiher who elaborates on the area of joint-council appointments and on language immersion programs. (April 30, 2014)
