Senators resume their pre-study the budget bill (C-31). Monique Moreau, the director of national affairs at the Canadian Federation of Independent Business, discusses the red tape currently associated with the remittance threshold for employer-sourced deductions such as CPP and payroll taxes, and provides possible amendments to ease the difficulties that businesses, particularly smaller ones, face when dealing with these hurdles. Ian Lee, an associate professor of business at Carleton University, discusses some of the public service labour relations aspects of the bill. (May 6, 2014) UPDATE: Bill C-31 received royal assent on June 19.
