The Senators continue with their pre-study of the budget bill. Representatives from the Department of Citizenship and Immigration Canada, Maia Welbourne and David Manicom, and the Department of Employment and Social Development Canada, Alexis Conrad, speak on Part 6 of Bill C-31. The witnesses discuss the creation of a new express entry system for immigrants, development of a selection process of immigration applications to eliminate backlog of these applications, and the implementation of new administrative monetary policies for employers abusing the Temporary Foreign Worker Program. (May 7, 2014) UPDATE: Bill C-31 received royal assent on June 19.
