For the committee’s pre-study on part 6 of the budget bill, the Senators hear from the Canadian Bankers Association’s Marina Mandal and Kenneth Thorlakson on the amendments to the Bank Act concerning derivatives and benchmarks.

Also appearing at the committee are Steve Masnyk, the Insurance Brokers Association of Canada, Normand Lafrenière, the Insurance Brokers Association of Canada, Frank Lowery, the Co-operators, and Karen Gavan, the Economical Insurance, who discuss the bill’s amendments to the Insurance Companies Act concerning mutual insurance companies. (May 14, 2014) UPDATE: Bill C-31 received royal assent on June 19.
