Senators begin their study of supplementary estimates (A) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2015. Jean-Frédéric Lafaille and David McCauley from Natural Resources Canada explain that the funding included in the supplementary estimates allow the AECL to continue the medical isotope production, complete infrastructure and operational upgrades related to health, safety and security, environmental priorities and meet regulatory requirements. They also discuss the Nuclear Legacy Liabilities Program. Robert Walker and Steve Halpenny from the Atomic Energy of Canada Limited report that the AECL continues to develop the science and technology needed to drive the industry confidently into the future. Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat officials Bill Matthews, Marcia Santiago and George Samiotis, discuss the major vote items which include Employment and Social Development Canada, the Jacques Cartier and Champlain bridges, PPP Canada, Atomic Energy, Natural Resources Canada, Infrastructure Canada and Indian and Northern Affairs Canada.
