In Committee from the Senate of Canada - Transport and Communications - May 28, 2014 - Part 2

Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre and Longueuil Mayor Caroline St-Hilaire discuss the budget bill provision related to the replacement of Montreal's aging Champlain Bridge. The two former MPs reiterate their strong opposition to the federal government’s plan to levy a toll on the bridge. They also discuss the bridge’s economic importance for Canada. The bridge is one of the busiest bridges in the country and is part of a major Canada-United States trade corridor. (May 28, 2014) UPDATE: Bill C-31 received royal assent on June 19.
